This is a very early game. The label on the box is dated Sept 18th 1793, and the rules (p/c) dated 29th August 1793.
It is a domino game played with 35 dominos. There are details of which way up your “dice” are placed.
Examples are given showing what is a match.
eg so if it is a semi-breve the next player can put down 8 Quavers, 4 crochets or 2 Minims

A Musical Game for children invented by L.M. Drummond Esq – 1806
On the game sheet “published for Didier and Tebbett. at their repository of instructive games for children and Juvenile Library of English, French and Italian books No 75 St James St, London 1806″.
The only reference we can find to this game is a copy in the British Library – that is also without instructions.
Didier & Tebbitt published a number of games in the early 1800s, including:
An Historical Game of the Romans (1805) and
Historical Game of the Kings of England (including The Memorable Events of their reigns adapted to the Juvenile Capacity)(1804)
There seemed to be a link to Abbe Gaultier, as he is mentioned in some description and seems to advertise in the instruction booklets.

A beautiful and rare boxed game

It consists of playing cards from the seven to the Aces in four suits, each of which has a musical score on it.
The cards must be laid out in the order King, Queen, Jack, Ace 10, 9, 8, 7 without regard to suit or color.

This game is not common.

The last entry in the booklet is “ 98 – has the Queen any brothers or sisters ? ” – later versions have 100 questions, including reference to her marriage to Albert in 1840.

1850 Historical Amusements
A pretty educational card game about Kings and Queens – consisting of 100 questions, 36 colored monarch cards, answer booklet and a lot of bone counters.
The last entry in the booklet is “100 – Who did Victoria marry?”
This version was printed by William Turtle, 14 Woburn Buildings (who also printed earlier versions) for
N Carpenter at 11 Goswell Terrace, (1850-55).
The game was produced from c1834 – updated when Victoria became Queen (1837) and when she married (1840)
The box is slightly wider than the earlier version and the cards fit in better.
A version was also published by Rich’d H. Pease, and sold by Pease & Warren, the Temple of Fancy, 516 Broadway, USA in 1853.

The suits are the emblems that represent England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales ie rose, thistle, harp, and Prince of Wales Feathers.
The cards are numbered 1-5 and for each emblm there are 2 of numbers 3, 4, and 5 and 3 of numbers 1 and 2. There are also 4 “royal” cards. A collecting game that any number of people can play (according to the rules)

Electrical Historical Instructor – The original Magic Robot ?
A question card is placed on the centre on the glass area – the question to be asked is aligned at the top and a hand swings round and points to the answer.
This were made for teaching different topics ie Geography, Music and History.
There are copies in the Edinburgh Museum and the Bodleian. All have only one question card (double sided) with the answers to both sides around the edge the box, which is fixed.
Electrical Instructor – Condition; Box has a small spilt at the top edge and has been repaired on one corner – Inside cover is good / Question card – one side has a small part of one question missing – / Question area grubby, marks on the directions /, answers bright and clear / moving hand has been reinforced with cotton to keep it in place, but it is working correctly.
